Comptech — original race-engine company, 2007. Comptech was a California racing-engine company with a long history in professional motorsports. The original Comptech closed its doors in February 2007, and its race-engine operation was subsequently purchased. The Comptech/CT Engineering story continued in other forms, but the original operation’s closure is another example of how even established racing-engine businesses can disappear or be reorganized.

Eric, a customer, lost his money and never received his engine. The pattern is to collect as large a deposit, stall, sell, file bankruptcy, or just walk away from the business. The moral of the story: protect yourself and only pay upon delivery.
