These days, think twice before paying the full price of a racing engine months before it’s delivered.

Even respected engine builders can run into cash-flow problems, parts shortages, rising costs, or financial trouble. Once you’ve paid in full, your money may already be spent keeping the business operating long before your engine is completed.

If that shop suddenly closes or files bankruptcy, you could find yourself standing in line with other creditors—without your engine and without your money.

If an engine builder asks you to pay in advance, how reliable can they be? Ask yourself how solvent that company can be if they’re asking you to pay in advance. The economy is very stark, and no company is immune to closing down.  Ask Keith Black.
