JAYCE ROCKS THE PLACE
At 14yrs old and driving a race car what could be better huh ?
How about winning your first championship. Jayce Hale is certainly not only winning but he’s leading in championship points too. I’m not sure this will be a surprise to everyone because Jayce’s dad, Johnathan was a racer in Late Model, and K&N. Grandpa Lin was a well known street race and uncle Donny threw down on the dirt for years.
During our interview, Jayce an I talked about the, ‘whats haps this last week’. Jayce discussed being 36 points in the lead for the championship but was not so enamored by the most recent results. He said last week he qualified 2nd just a few ticks off the bench mark for the race. During the race Jayce’s new car just wasn’t feeling right. Thankfully the Rex Hutchison bullet was still delivering the power but Jayce knows you need more than raw power. You also need handling and a good team to put the show together. The team was trying new things on the car some that worked, and some that were less than optimal. As a racer, Jayce understands you rarely get a perfect car and the great drivers still have to make it happen. During the main he was frustrated by the the feel of the car and found drivers were moving him around a bit.
Jayce was finally able to claw his way back making it all worth wild finishing 2nd. It was an excellent finish again for the team demonstrating Jayce racing acumen. Jayce also had a little something extra though. It was his good luck charms he carries in the race car. I asked him what they were and he said in his radio box he has a Lighting McQueen hot wheels, 3 pennies he found heads up in the pits, and a very special lucky charm. When asked about the special one he told me the story that mom had brought a picture to him his baby sister drew. The pic was of him on the race track in his car. He taped that to the steering column and won his first race !
Jayce has much talent, he’s smart and picks up things very quickly. Besides he’s very adept when making decisions in the car. With his whole family involved, mom his siblings, and dad as a racer many believe he has a bright future in the crazy business of motorsports.
Congrats young man and keep it up. BTW thanks mom and dad for the love and support you’ve given him. We fans know he will find success in the sport.
